Keynote Conversation: Paul Telegdy, NBC Entertainment (10:00am - 11:00am)

Sponsored by:

Wedgewood Ballroom

Join us for a keynote interview with Paul Telegdy, NBC Entertainment's president of alternative and late night programming, when he discusses his career in television, his thoughts on the health of the unscripted industry, and his ideas regarding where it is headed in the immediate future.

Telegdy oversees NBC's unscripted series and specials programming, including such major franchises as The Voice, America's Got Talent, American Ninja Warrior, the Golden Globe Awards, The Celebrity Apprentice, The Biggest Loser, Hollywood Game Night, Running Wild with Bear Grylls, The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, and the U.S. broadcast network's latest unscripted smash, Little Big Shots. His oversight also includes NBC's philanthropic event for "Red Nose Day".

He is also responsible for The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Late Night with Seth Meyers, Last Call with Carson Daly and Saturday Night Live.

Before arriving at NBC and Universal Television Studios, Telegdy held senior roles at BBC Worldwide America and BBC Productions Los Angeles, where he developed Dancing with the Stars, which has become one of the industry's perennial top series hits.

Honored as Realscreen's 2016 Television Trailblazer, the session will feature a special presentation as we induct Paul Telegdy into the Realscreen Awards Hall of Fame.

Make or Break: Understanding Your Audience (11:15am - 12:15pm)

Wedgewood Ballroom

"They love us, they hate us." Like it or not, they determine your success. It’s no secret that the industry is changing at a rapid pace, and understanding your audience is critical to ensure shows break through, get continued attention and turn a profit. What does your target audience look like today, and how will it look two, five or ten years from now? What steps should you take to turn your audience into commercial success?  Here, we'll take a landscape-level look at a transforming population – age, ethnicity, sex, buying power – and the ever-changing ways in which they are viewing shows.

Wedgewood Ballroom

Over the past year, several major cable nets have moved towards a “bigger, better, fewer” programming strategy that places an emphasis on “tentpole” content and A-list talent, both of which come with heftier price tags than reality television. What are the opportunities in the strategy for unscripted producers and the climate for the non-tentpole series and programs that used to be the backbone of the schedule?
