Tom Wright serves as CEO of Vertical Networks, a mobile-first content studio that publishes and produces editorial and video properties driven by real-time insights. The company is behind some of the hottest content on Snapchat and Facebook including Brother, PhoneSwap, Ghost Hunt and I Have A Secret . C umulatively, Vertical Networks has more than 50 million monthly active viewers, 2.3 billion monthly views, and 7.5 million average DAU per Vertical Networks episode.
Prior to joining Vertical Networks, Wright was the founding partner at Elisabeth Murdoch’s Freelands Ventures, investing at the overlap between technology, media, and entertainment in companies like Headspace, Unikrn and Afiniti. Tom continues to invest in media both at Freelands and as an active angel in companies like Magic Pony (acquired by Twitter), The Hustle and Donut Media.
Before Freelands Ventures, Wright founded a series of content-driven community sites including pregnancy social network Gurgle (acquired by Mothercare in 2009) and reading community Bookarmy (acquired by Harper Collins in 2011). He began his career in the UK at Sky, where he built out their early mobile offering.
