Betsy Ayala currently serves as the as Senior Vice President of Production & Development, managing the development and production of series and specials for HGTV, DIY Network and Great American Country.
She joined the company in 2016 as Vice President of Programming for the brands, overseeing such hit series as Good Bones and working with Polish media company TVN to create Mediterranean Life for HGTV. Ayala then spent a year with Food Network and Cooking Channel, where she spearheaded Ultimate Thanksgiving Challenge, the second highest performing new series on Food Network in 2018.
Ayala also plays an integral role working with various internal groups to build the company’s multi-platform content strategies for all five lifestyle networks.
With more than 15 years of television and digital programming experience, Ayala is adept at managing all facets of programming from lifestyle to live daily shows and events to docu-soaps. Previously, Ayala was Vice President of Programming and Production at PTA Networks, a digital streaming television travel network serving content for platforms such as Roku, Comcast Xfinity and Amazon Fire. Ayala also served as Executive Producer and Head of New Development for Moxie Pictures, home of multi-season successes like Animal Planet’s Ice Cold Gold and FYI’s Arranged, which she created.
Her previous television experience includes developing and producing programming for luxury lifestyle network Plum TV, as well as the NFL Network, CBS Sports Network, NBC Sports and ESPN.
Ayala holds a master’s degree from Northwestern University in broadcast journalism and received her undergraduate degree from Vanderbilt University.
