Jonathan Cane is Head of Development for Back Roads Entertainment.
In his role, Cane oversees the company’s development team of six and is charged with creating and developing original formats specifically tailored for the cable marketplace. Most recently, he served as Vice President of Development for BBC Worldwide Productions where he developed Living with the Enemy for Lifetime amongst projects for Discovery, TLC, VH1, MTV, A&E and Red Bull. Prior, he spent five years at FremantleMedia North America, serving as Vice President of Development and managing development for formats such as Married to Medicine (Bravo) and Quit Your Day Job (Oxygen) as well as game shows like Perfect Score (CW) and Idiotest (GSN).
Cane began his career at MTV where he ultimately served as showrunner on a diverse slate from from doc-reality, game shows, and dating shows, delivering a total of over 250 hours of aired content. There, he was responsible for Parental Control, Track2 and formatted and oversaw over 60 episodes of the hit series Yo Momma starring Wilmer Valderrama. With nearly 20 years of experience, he has developed and produced for a wide array of networks including Fox, A&E, MTV, CW, Bravo, E!, Discovery, GSN, Discovery, Oxygen, Style, Lifetime, VH1, NatGeo, TLC, WeTV and Red Bull.
He attended The University of Chicago, and currently holds a BFA with honors from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. He lives in Los Angeles with his wife Aimee and his two daughters, Jack and Ellorie.
