Amber Mazzola is the Chief Executive Officer, Founder and Executive Producer of Machete Productions, a full service unscripted production company which she established in 2011. In an industry that is predominately run by men, her company is one of the few reality companies that is headed up by a woman.
Machete Productions currently produces the widely popular hit franchise WAGS, WAGS Miami and WAGS Atlanta for E! Entertainment, which takes viewers inside the lives of some of today’s hottest professional athletes from the perspective of the strong women who stand by their side, otherwise known as ‘Wives and Girlfriends of Sports Stars.’ New episodes of all three series will air this summer and fall.
The company also produces original reality series for CNBC including the breakout show, The Profit, which will air its fourth season this summer and is currently casting for the fifth season. Featuring Marcus Lemonis, who lends his expertise to struggling businesses in various industries across the country while using his famous People/Process/Product principle, the series enjoyed the highest ratings the network has seen in four years and revolutionized the business genre in reality television. In addition, Machete Productions created for CNBC the reality series The Partner, also hosted by Lemonis, who has invested nearly $50 million dollars in companies featured on the series. Most recently, Mazzola has partnered with Michael Strahan of SMAC Entertainment to executive produce the pilot, Back in the Game, hosted by Alex Rodriguez. It is the third series for CNBC from Machete and will premiere this year.
In its first year, Machete Productions produced several projects for E! Entertainment including Pretty Wild, The Dance Scene, Dirty Soap and Fantasy Family Makeover. In addition to being a powerhouse production company, Machete Productions has a development team with a number of projects in development for E! Entertainment, Bravo and other networks.
Amber Mazzola started her career as a writer working in the scripted arena as a production assistant at The Carsey-Werner Company, where she worked on a number of series including Third Rock from the Sun. She went on to become a writer’s assistant, then partnered with David Alan Grier and worked as a staff writer on the series DAG, among other projects.
Mazzola was the co-executive producer on Kathy Griffin’s reality series for Bravo, My Life on the D List, which garnered the series an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Reality Program and a nomination from the Producers Guild of America for Outstanding Producer of Non-Fiction Television. Her other numerous credits include showrunner for The Millionaire Matchmaker and Tori & Dean: Storibook Weddings, and she also was a writer for the smash Oxygen series, Girls Behaving Badly.
