Paul Cabana was named Executive Vice President, Head of Programming for HISTORY and H2, in March 2015. In this role, Cabana leads the creative and strategic direction for HISTORY® and H2. He oversees the programming teams and is responsible for the development, creation and execution of all programming for the networks. He is also charged with imaginatively integrating new programming with on-line initiatives, and developing new ways to expand the brand across multiple platforms.
From 2012-2015, Cabana was Senior Vice President and Head of Programming for H2, which was launched in September 2011 and offers viewers a deeper perspective on history, experienced in entertaining ways. Under Cabana's leadership, H2’s ratings more than doubled and H2 became the #1 emerging ad-supported cable network (under 70M homes). He has also helped drive business growth, with sales revenue more than quadrupling since launch. Among the hit series he launched are America Unearthed, Brad Meltzer’s Lost History, and America’s Book of Secrets.
Prior to H2, Cabana was Senior Executive Producer for History. Projects he oversaw include the Emmy®-nominated event series The Men Who Built America, and Mankind the Story of All of Us, as well as How the States Got Their Shapes, Life After People: The Series, and Top Shot. He also developed two of the network’s hit event series World Wars and the scripted Sons of Liberty. He joined History in 2008.
Earlier in his career, Cabana was an Emmy-nominated producer, director and camera operator for Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations, along with other series on Discovery, TLC, and PBS. Prior to his work in television, Cabana was a new media producer and writer for Fast Company and Inc. Magazines, The Atlantic Monthly Online and The Boston Globe. He has an economics degree from Harvard University.
