Bryan Carmel is the VP of Development and Head of Comedy at Fusion across platforms. Since joining FUSION in March 2016, Bryan has made an immediate impact starting with the successful launch of The Chris Gethard Show, which made its national debut to critical acclaim last May and returned for Season 2 this Spring. Bryan also brought Trump Vs Bernie and soon-to-be-released The Democracy Handbook With Bassem Youssef to FUSION.
Prior to joining FUSION, Bryan was a documentary filmmaker, a TV show-runner, and a development executive. He produced the cult-hit film Kumare, winner of the 2011 Audience Award at SXSW. Bryan also wrote and executive produced two comedic documentaries for History: The Stoned Ages (an exploration of our relationship with drugs starring Breaking Bad’s Dean Norris) and I-Swear: A History of Dirty Words (starring comedian Adam Ferrara). He co-founded Disposable, a NYC-based boutique production company, where he produced award-winning digital comedy series for HBO, Comedy Central, IFC, MTV, Fox, and Yahoo, as well as subversive, comedic marketing campaigns for major brands and top recording artists. Most recently, Bryan was the VP of Development at True Entertainment, where he developed a number of series including Vanity Fair Confidential (Investigation Discovery) and Town Of The Living Dead (SyFy). Bryan’s passion for documentaries and comedy is a perfect mix for Fusion’s young, diverse millennial audience.
Bryan holds a B.A. from Columbia University in Religious Studies and an M.F.A in Motion Picture Producing from USC's Peter Stark Producing Program. He lives in LA with his lovely wife Anamay and their two super funny children.
