Colin Whelan is the Vice President of Alternative Programming at Syfy. In his role he oversees a variety of current reality shows such as Haunted Collector, Stranded, Scare Tactics and Destination Truth. Additionally charged with development, recent efforts include Deep South Paranormal, Viral Video Showdown and the upcoming Exit.

Prior to Syfy, Colin was an Executive Producer at TLC, where he was responsible for numerous reality shows including Sarah Palin’s Alaska, LA Ink, New York Ink, Ultimate Cake-Off, Surprise Homecoming, Little Chocolatiers and Mall Cops.

Before joining TLC, he was a freelance Executive Producer who oversaw shows for HGTV, VH1, Travel Channel, USA and Fremantle. Colin graduated with an MFA from the UCLA School of Film and TV Producers’ Program.
