ID and True Crime Originals on discovery+

As the senior director of development, Erica Diaz-Gant is charged with conceptualizing and creating content for Discovery's true crime originals, as well as the preeminent true crime television destination, Investigation Discovery. Diaz-Gant is tasked with creating breakthrough and thought-provoking new content in the booming true crime space across all platforms including linear, podcasts and the company’s latest streaming venture, discovery+.


Diaz-Gant is responsible for developing gripping true crime content to feed a robust pipeline layered with content ranging from core true crime series to active investigations and social-issue oriented programming. Since her tenure at ID began, Diaz-Gant has been responsible for the conceptualization and development of several hit ID series and specials including The Atlanta Child Murders, Children of the Show,The Chameleon Killer and the active investigation series which brings preeminent victims’ rights advocate, John Walsh, to ID’s air with In Pursuit with John Walsh. Since the series premiered in January 2019 on ID, 25 featured fugitives have been brought to justice and six missing children have been recovered. Gearing up for the future of true crime, Diaz-Gant has helped to reimagine ID’s fan-favorite star Lt. Joe Kenda for streaming, with the discovery+ launch original series, American Detective with LT. Joe Kenda.

Additionally, Diaz-Gant is a team lead on the ID podcast initiative, developing original content for ID’s true crime podcast slate, including: RED FLAGS talk show, as well as complimentary podcasts with companion specials including: The CLown & The Candyman and the Unraveled anthology series, starring Billy Jensen and Alexis Linkletter.

Prior to joining Discovery in 2017, Diaz-Gant was the executive in charge of the longest-running crime series on the Oxygen Network, Snapped, and developed and produced their second longest-running crime series, Killer Couples. During her tenure at NBC Universal, she developed original content including She Made Me Do It,, #Killerpost, and the Snapped: Notorious franchise.

Diaz-Gant is based in Discovery Inc.’s New York office.
