Jorge Franzini has produced and written a wide range of highly acclaimed documentaries for CuriosityStream, including its first original seriesDestination: Pluto, its first 4K seriesUnderwater Wonders of the National Parks, the award-nominated Jason Silva specialTranshumanism, as well as the successful CuriosityStream strandBreakthroughs.Outside of his duties as a writer and executive producer, he worked alongside the programming team as a liaison with outside production companies and partners. He currently serves as the Director of Content and Development, identifying potential original series and one-offs for the service.
Prior to joining CuriosityStream, Franzini spent the early years of his career in the field, working on a variety of broadcast and commercial projects. He was also a member of the production team for two seasons of the national, weekly public affairs show Inside E Street for PBS, and was a producer for one of the earliest digital media companies specializing in streaming content.
In his spare time, Franzini has served as a judge for the Jackson Hole Wildlife Film Festival, the Science Media Awards, and the News and Documentary Emmy Awards. He has also participated on panels at the World Congress of Science and other festivals. Franzini studied communications at the University of Maryland and digital filmmaking at Boston University.
