For over 3 decades, Arthur Smith has been an industry leader in innovating and driving nonfiction TV forward.  His passion for compelling storytelling spans all genres: epic, visually stunning athletic competition series like the Emmy-nominated American Ninja Warrior and The Titan Games with Dwayne Johnson; dramatic, pulpy, attention-grabbers such as The Swan and Paradise Hotel; intriguing docudramas like Kitchen Nightmares; wild and fun new takes on game shows in Mental Samurai and  format of the year winner, I Survived a Japanese Game Show; riveting documentaries like the award-winning, Unsung, and, of course, the culinary masterpiece that launched the primetime competitive food revolution – Hell’s Kitchen, just to name a few.

While his love for production and development is well known, it’s his generous mentoring of others within and outside his company that makes his contribution to the industry even more impactful.  With several thousands of hours of hit television produced, Arthur Smith’s dedication to nonfiction TV is unmatched, and his vision for the next great audience-pleasing hit is unparalleled. That vision and dedication will continue driving nonfiction TV forward well into the future.

Prior to launching A. Smith & Co. Productions in 2000Smith held the role of Executive Vice President of Programming, Production and News for FOX Sports. He launched the network into cable sports – supervising production, development, scheduling and acquisition of all national and regional programming. While at FOX, Smith launched 22 sports networks, serving as executive producer on all events and original programming. Before FOX Sports, Smith served as Senior Vice President of MCA Television Group, where he rejuvenated MCA’s first-run division, developing a number of projects and acquisitions for syndication. Smith also spent four years as Senior Vice President of dick clark productions.

Smith was named Head of CBC Sports at the age of 28. He orchestrated the modernization of the network, creating sports content in an entertainment format filled with stylized graphics, driving music, high-profile features and technological innovations. His career began at CBC Network Sports, where he produced and directed major events around the world. This included overseeing three Olympic Games as an executive producer, for which he won numerous accolades, including two Gemini Awards.

A proud alumni of Ryerson University in Toronto where he was inducted into the hall of fame, Smith currently resides in Los Angeles.
