Julie Meisner Eagle

VP, Production & Development

Travel Channel

As the vice president of production and development for Travel Channel, Julie Meisner Eagle is responsible for cultivating and creating original content for the network. This role includes scouting new content offerings, overseeing the production of a well-rounded slate of new and returning series and specials, and strategizing each program’s distribution across multiple platforms. As an award-winning producer, writer and director, Meisner Eagle has experience creating hundreds of hours of programing including documentaries, non-fiction series, talk shows, live events, kids’ programs and digital content.

Previously, Meisner Eagle served as Vice President of Production and Development for Discovery Life Channel team, contributing to strategic planning and network management, and working as a core decision maker for the direction of the channel.

Meisner Eagle began her tenure at Discovery Communications in 2009 at TLC, where she served as the executive producer for such water-cooler series as Sister Wives, Say Yes to the Dress, Strange Sex, and New York Ink. In 2013, she transitioned to Discovery Channel and worked on series and specials including Shark Week, Alaskan Bush People, Dude, You’re Screwed, and Mile Wide Tornado and Everest Avalanche Tragedy, which was recognized with a John Hendrick’s Innovation Award.

Prior to Discovery Communications, Meisner Eagle was a freelance writer and producer for various genres including children’s shows that aired on PBS Sprout, Playhouse Disney, and Discovery Kids. Additionally, she served as co-executive producer at Film Garden Entertainment, where she oversaw production on a wide variety of specials and series that aired on Discovery Channel, TLC, Travel Channel, and MSNBC.

In 2018, Meisner Eagle produced an award-winning feature documentary film, Care to Laugh, which won the audience award at Austin Film Festival and Best Film at Chicago Comedy Festival.

Meisner Eagle is a graduate from the University of Wisconsin. She lives in Sandy Spring, Maryland with her husband, two boys, crazy dog, and trampolining rabbit.
