Jamie Canniffe is Senior Vice President, U.S. alternative and syndicated programming at Sony Pictures Television (SPT).  A two-time Emmy Award nominated producer, Canniffe develops unscripted series for broadcast networks, cable networks, streaming platforms and for first run syndication. He also oversees the current shows in production and works closely with the company’s international production team on SPT’s numerous formats.

At SPT, he spearheaded the transformation of the Japanese format, Dragon’s Den, into ABC’s Shark Tank, the four-time, Emmy Award-winning series, currently in its 10th season.

In the last three years, Canniffe has overseen nearly 750 hours of television and sold dozens of new series including the The $100,000 Pyramid and The Gong Show to ABC; the irreverent game show,Snoop Dogg Presents The Joker’s Wild to TBS; the provocative, social experiment The Briefcase to CBS; and the high-concept, reality competition show STRONG to NBC.  He also has three, first-run syndicated series among his credits, including the five-time Emmy Award-winning,The Dr. Oz Show.

Prior to SPT, Canniffe teamed up with groundbreaking reality TV producer Mark Burnett for the first season of The Apprentice.  Canniffe was a key part of the original producing team that launched the show and helped develop it into a pop culture phenomenon. Over the subsequent six seasons, Canniffe quickly rose through the ranks at Mark Burnett Productions and soon became the showrunner of the breakout hit. 

An avid music fan, Canniffe joined Mark Burnett Productions from VH1’s acclaimed series,Behind the Music. He was a producer for the series for more than four years, writing and directing nearly a dozen of the documentaries, including episodes on P Diddy, Billy Idol, No Doubt and John Lennon.  Canniffe began his television career at Fox Sports where he first gained notice for his work on the celebrated baseball show for kids called In the Zone.

Canniffe’s has a BA from Boston College and resides in Santa Monica with his wife and two children. His dream day is to surf and ski before sunset.
