John Miller-Monzon is a veteran producer and creative executive for film & tv, and currently the director of development for Viacom’s CMT network where he develops and exec produces unscripted series & long-form documentaries.
After launching his freelance producing career with Comedy Central's cult sitcom, Strangers With Candy, Miller-Monzon’s first notable non-fiction projects were two Emmy-nominated documentary miniseries, A Decade Under the Influence and Martin Scorsese Presents The Blues: A Musical Journey.
Additional feature & television documentary credits include Oscar winner The Cove, Indie Spirit Award winner Crazy Love, Peabody Award winner Black Magic, Imagen Award winner Viva Baseball! and Emmy winner Mission Blue. Also PGA Award nominee A Place at the Table and the popular Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead.
Miller-Monzon’s recent credits for CMT include the docu-series Gainesville, docudrama miniseries NASCAR: The Rise of American Speed and the acclaimed feature documentaries The Bandit and Chicken People. Also the upcoming If I Leave Here Tomorrow: a film about Lynyrd Skynyrd, from Stephen Kijak and Passion Pictures.
Prior to joining the Viacom family in spring 2014 and re-booting the development side of his career, Miller-Monzon served as a development consultant and creative executive for Independent Film Channel and IFC TV. He's a member of the PGA and The Television Academy.
