Brian Leonard

Travel Channel

Brian Leonard was named vice president of programming and development for Travel Channel in March 2015. In this role, he oversees the team of directors of programming and development as well as manages several of his own projects. Since joining Travel Channel in 2011, Leonard has served as executive producer on many popular series for the network including "Breaking Borders," "Hotel Impossible," "Man Finds Food" and "Time Traveling with Brian Unger."

Leonard is an Emmy Award-winning producer with over 30 years of experience in the television and motion picture industries, having developed and produced highly successful programming for both the big and small screens. Leonard’s documentary work has been recognized for its human and illustrative style, while his series production is applauded for its efficiency, coverage and dependability.

Prior to Travel Channel, Leonard served as a showrunner for the History Channel’s long-running series “Modern Marvels,” in addition to creating and producing the Military Channel series “Battlefield Diaries” and TLC’s “Marriage Boot Camp.” Leonard worked for Fox Television’s “America’s Most Wanted” for six years, co-executive produced the daily syndicated series “America’s Most Wanted: Final Justice” for Twentieth Television, ESPN’s award-winning investigative/documentary series “Outside the Lines” and 20th Century Fox International Television’s series “Manhunter.”  Leonard also wrote, produced and directed the Emmy Award-winning Discovery Channel documentary “Vietnam POWs: Stories of Survival.”

Earlier in his career, Leonard gained industry recognition as the manager of Creative Film Services at Universal Pictures and Walt Disney Studios, where his work on trailer productions for such films as “Three Men and a Baby” and “Good Morning Vietnam” earned him Key Art and Clio Awards. In 2000, Leonard formed Normandy Films, LLC – an independent production company. In 2002, he was appointed vice president and executive producer of Atlanta Creative, a Washington, DC-based provider of original programming.

Brian Leonard is a veteran (USMC 1976-79) who lives with his wife in Maryland.
