As SVP, Current Unscripted Programming at BBC Worldwide Productions and Adjacent Productions, Shakespeare oversees the creative development and execution of multiple unscripted shows currently in production under both labels.
Shakespeare has served as the executive producer on Adjacent Productions’ Life Below Zero (National Geographic Channel) which recently premiered as the network’s number one fall series. He is currently overseeing the production of the show’s third season.
Prior to joining BBC Worldwide Productions, Shakespeare worked across a variety of successful titles including Ice Road Truckers, Deadliest Catch, Black Gold, The Wild Within, Gourmet’s Adventures with Ruth, Gourmet’s Diary of a Foodie, and the feature film, All That Remains.
Shakespeare has been honored with three Daytime Emmy® nominations for his work on Gourmet’s Diary of a Foodie and Gourmet’s Adventures with Ruth and the 2011 James Beard Award for his work on The Wild Within. Additionally he has received two Silver Medals at the New York Festivals TV Broadcast Awards, the 2007 Banff Award and two James Beard nominations for Gourmet’s Diary of a Foodie. He holds a B.A. from University of Colorado, Boulder, in English, French, and Chinese.
