Hayley Babcock

Hayley Babcock is a highly respected senior entertainment executive with an extensive background in development, production, acquisition and management. She has wide-ranging experience in supervising productions, building brands, sourcing and managing IP and restructuring existing departments. She has particular expertise in sourcing IP, improving production quality and creative output, overseeing multiple productions and uniting diverse divisions to work as a cohesive team. Babcock has a strong reputation for great creative instincts, a instilling positive employee morale and fostering respect from peers and clients.

She began her career as a producer in nationally syndicated talk-radio and went on to produce a live, daily TV magazine show for KABC Television. After her profession began in the US, she was recruited by RTL Television Germany to executive produce that country’s first live, daily morning entertainment program.  Babcock spent the next 7 years developing and producing reality programming, game shows, dating shows and talk shows in Germany. Because of this expertise, the board of an international broadcast group recruited Babcock to form and build an alternative/entertainment department for them in Berlin. She succeeded in delivering the development and production of 3 series within the first 6 months while training a staff of employees who had no previous experience with the genre. That led to her taking the position as Head of Development and Executive Producer for Fremantle Media Germany.  

Upon returning to the US Hayley's expertise in the unscripted world landed her at CBS International, Fox and Sony where she successfully led international television partners in new show development and acquisition as well as the creative adaptation and local production of global franchises, overseeing an average of 40 shows in production per year.Some examples:Beauty and the Geek; Jeopardy; Joe Millionaire; The Simple Life; Temptation Island; Wheel of FortuneandWho Wants To Be A Millionaire. 

With a keen talent for leadership and collaboration, Babcockco-created the Global Creative Council at Sony Pictures Television, which included the creative heads of 11 international production companies and senior distribution executives. This resulted in focused investment in new projects, increased flow of IP across the group and the streamlining of development and acquisition decisions worldwide.

When Sony’s international production division relocated headquarters to London, Babcock left the studio to remain in the US and started Hayley Babcock Media Consulting (HBMC). At HBMC she took on the role as head of North American Acquisitions for Shine Distribution, where she built on her strong relationships with US producers and broadcasters to source and acquire scripted and unscripted titles for international sale. After 2 years with Shine, Babcock now heads up North American Acquisitions and Formats for DRG through her HBMC shingle.

Hayley Babcock received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). She is fluent in German and conversational in French and is a member of the Television Academy of Arts and Sciences.
