Susanne Daniels is an award winning entertainment executive who has developed and produced some of the most memorable series on television. In her current role as President of Programming for MTV, she oversees all development and programming for the iconic youth brand. Her responsibilities include oversight of scripted and reality series, news and documentaries, production and talent.
Since joining MTV, Daniels has developed hits in the scripted division such as “Finding Carter” and “Faking It,” and has highly anticipated dramas coming to the network in 2015 with “Eye Candy,” “Scream,” and “Shannara.” On the reality front, Daniels re-vamped the “Real World” franchise with a fresh, new twist; “Ex-plosion” rating was the the highest rated season in three years. She developed the successful matchmaking show “Are You The One” which just wrapped season 2. Upcoming reality shows for 2015 include, “Todrick” featuring YouTube sensation Todrick Hall and “Follow the Rules” with Grammy nominated rapper turned actor, Ja Rule.
Daniels led the programming division at The WB Network (now THE CW). In 1994, she embarked on an incredible run, generating a string of culture-defining hits including “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” “Dawson’s Creek,” “Felicity,” “Angel,” “Smallville” “Gillmore Girls,” “7thHeaven” and “Charmed.”
From there Daniels went on to serve as President of Lifetime Television where she was responsible for all programming on Lifetime Television and Lifetime Movie Network. At Lifetime Television she developed “Army Wives” which is the highest rated drama series in the channels history.
Daniels started her career as an assistant to executive producer Lorne Michaels on “Saturday Night Live.” She went on to become director of specials and variety series for ABC, where she oversaw such projects as “The Academy Awards,” and “American Comedy Awards,” to name a few. Following her tenure at ABC, she served as Vice President of Comedy for Fox Television where she shepherded their successful Thursday night comedies “Martin” and “Living Single.”
She also serves on the various prestigious boards including The Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy, Children Now, Common Sense Media and Women in Film.
Daniels is based in Los Angeles where she resides with her husband, writer-producer-director Greg Daniels.
