Emmy® Award Winning Producer Mary Lisio is the Executive Vice President of Non-Fiction and Branded Entertainment at Scott Free Productions, where she oversees all non-scripted projects.
Lisio’s first project with Scott Free was The Real Robin Hood, a 2-hr special for History Channel that aired alongside the release of Ridley Scott’s Robin Hood. In 2011 Scott Free premiered the Emmy®-winning documentary special Gettysburg for History Channel, which garnered seven nominations and won four 2011 Primetime Emmys®, including Outstanding Non-Fiction Special. The department’s first series Prophets of Science Fiction premiered in November 2011 on Science with an extended interview with Ridley Scott in each episode.
Scott Free recently produced the Emmy®-nominated ratings hit Killing Lincoln for the National Geographic Channel, and the series Crimes of the Century, which premiered in June 2013 on CNN taking an in-depth look inside infamous true crimes of the last hundred years. Recently launched for AOL ON Network, The Sartorialist for AOL ON features fashion photographer and blogger Scott Schuman, The Sartorialist, as he travels across Europe and roams the streets of New York City capturing the best in culture and fashion. The television event Killing Kennedy based on Bill O’Reilly’s bestselling book, and starring Rob Lowe, Will Rothhaar, Michelle Trachtenberg, and Ginnifer Goodwin aired November 10, 2013 on National Geographic Channel to record ratings.
Lisio and Scott Free are currently producing an untitled verité documentary series that follows people in the last days of their lives, and adapting Bill O’Reilly’s bestselling book Killing Jesus, both for National Geographic Channel.
Scott Free works closely with RSA Films, one the world’s largest and most successful commercial production houses. In 2010 Scott Free and RSA Films teamed with Budweiser for Bud House, a branded series that took place at the World Cup and aired on BudUnited.com. More branded initiatives from Scott Free and RSA Films include: The Dodge Ram Challenge, directed by Tony Scott; USA Character Project, a series of short films produced for USA Network; Re:Generation, a feature documentary with Hyundai; and Friday Night Fights for Activision.
Prior to Scott Free, Lisio worked at Actual Reality Pictures, a non-fiction production company headed by RJ Cutler. While there, she oversaw the development of multiple reality series for network, cable and online as well as the feature documentary, The September Issue. She also spent several years at Wieden + Kennedy in media planning.
