Philip D. Segal is the CEO and Executive Producer of Original Productions (OP), a FremantleMedia company. As CEO, Segal merges a comprehensive and acclaimed career of achievements in creating, writing, directing and producing highly recognized projects for television. Original Productions series are enjoyed by millions of fans worldwide, all under

the purview of Segal. He is Executive Producer of Appalachian Outlaws, American Hoggers; Storage Wars, and Barry’d Treasures for A&E; Bering Sea Gold on Discovery; as well as Emmy® nominated Ice Road Truckers, Ax Men, and The Legend of Shelby the Swamp Man on History.

Segal joined Original Productions in 2005 as President and Executive Producer. Since then, the OP signature series Deadliest Catch on Discovery has been honored with ten Primetime Emmy® Awards including Outstanding Reality Series.

Prior to joining Original Productions, Segal held executive positions at Bunim-Murray Productions, Tribune Entertainment, Amblin Entertainment, and ABC Television. A long-time fan of the iconic Doctor Who, he is responsible for the return of the BBC favorite. Segal was instrumental in creating and producing The Doctor’s eighth regeneration in the 1996 telemovie, Doctor Who. In 2000, he co-wrote a book about the production, titled Doctor Who: Regeneration.

Born in the United Kingdom, Segal is a graduate of San Diego State University with a degree in Telecommunications.  He is a board member of the Hollywood Radio and Television Society (HRTS), Reality Peer Group of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (ATAS), and the National Association of Broadcasters NAB Show® Program Advisory Group. Segal is on the Board of Directors of Telluride’s Mountain Film Festival, and My Friend’s Place (myfriendsplace.org)
