Nicole Reed is vice president of development at National Geographic Channels based in New York City. Recently joining the East Coast development team in March 2014, Reed will be responsible for the development and the greenlight of new series and specials for the network, as well as building relationships with East Coast- and U.K.-based production companies.
Prior to NGC, from 2011 to 2014, Reed was director, nonfiction and alternative programming at A&E. She was responsible for the development of programming on A&E and Bio, partnering and building relationships with external production companies, and serving as executive producer with oversight on production for all pilots and several key series. Reed most recently developed and served as executive producer on upcoming series The Herbert Brothers and Big Smo (w.t.) and three seasons of A&E’s original series Barter Kings. At Bio, she oversaw more than 80 hours a year of content, in the development, acquisitions and production side. Her credits at Bio included My Haunted House, Reincarnated: Past Lives, Deadly Wives and Killer Kids.
From 2008 to 2011, Reed was manager, development at Discovery Channel, where she developed series and specials. Her many accolades include American Guns, which ran for three seasons. She also developed numerous specials including the Andy Samberg/Mike Rowe double header SharkCity.
Before her career in television, Reed worked as a unit production manager in independent film production.
