Alan Eyres is senior vice president of programming and development for Natgeo, where he has been responsible for developing and overseeing production of some of the highest rated series in the history of the network including Wicked Tuna, Brain Games, Life Below Zero, Ultimate Survival Alaska, Mick Dodge in addition to event series such as The 80s,
Since November, he has acted as head of development for the entire network, overseeing more than 400 hours of development a year. In addition, he has been responsible for building out the West Coast and New York offices, putting the network at the heart of two of the most vibrant production centres in the world.
Eyres comes from Discovery Channel, where he most recently served as acting VP with responsibilities across development and production, working on series in including the multiple award-winning Human Planet, some of the top-rated Shark Week episodes, and served as series editor on the prestige series Curiosity and high-end specials hosted by major celebrities such as Samuel L. Jackson, Robin Williams, Will.i.Am and Maggie Gyllenghaal.
Prior to coming to Discovery in 2007, Eyres worked for 10 years in production in the U.K., producing nonfiction television for both the U.S. and U.K. markets, including the Emmy and BAFTA-nominated Krakatoa: The Last Days for the BBC.
